Ride Snowboards Kink Snowboard $339.95 Last year Ride went big with their award-winning, park-oriented Kink snowboard, but this year these boards are available in wide sizes for 156- and 159-cm. sizes. The Kink remains the prime pick for budget-minded aggro riders who like to ride the rails more than anywhere else in the park. After all, if jibbing wasn’t tough on boards, it wouldn’t be fun. Ride reinforced their Kink with an impact-absorbing Slimewall 85A durameter sidewall. This skate-inspired board combines the vibration-dampening performance of the Slimewall with a Cleave Edge that’s 50% more material than conventional steel edges, so the Kink goes further than any ollie-oriented design we’ve seen. The Kink also features Ride’s smooth Thin Construction Sidewall to smooth out the rough edges in the terrain park. Ride tapered the core and added a deeper 45-degree sidewall to complement aggressive riding styles. Some freestyle boards beef up the durability with a burly 90-degree sidewall that you find on recreational boards, but the 45-degree sidewall on the Kink snowboard offers better edge hold–especially on packed terrain–and quickly transitions for edge-to-edge performance. The Thin Construction Sidewall tapers along the Kink’s tip and tail for a lower swing weight that makes it easier to rotate while popping above the pipe. Ride keeps the Kink affordable and predictable with their Foundation Tuned Core, one of four Tuned Cores from Ride. Foundation Cores give Ride snowboards a lively flex with plenty of strength and durability to take hard hits. The Kink’s core is wrapped in a Biaxial fiberglass construction along the top and bottom that features stitching at 90-degree angles for lightweight durability. Unlike other snowboard companies that use woven fiberglass, the stitched fiberglass construction on Ride snowboards are flatter and more consistent for durability that surpasses conventional snowboard designs. Below everything is a tough and fast 1500 grade extruded fusion base, a faster base that |
